A Poem for My Daughter

Carla and Me ~ July 1971
A Poem I Wrote for My Daughter, Carla

"Beach World Blessings"

I look back across the decades
To a little Florida town,
When I had no wealth ~ but I had health,
And my skin was sun~kissed brown.
When I had no plan, and there was no man
To comfort or provide ~
When I felt blessed above the rest
With my daughter at my side:
A little girl with sea-green eyes
Who charmed my heart and soul,
As hand~in~hand, on the summer sand,
Under the sun we'd stroll.
Others, perhaps ~ if they thought of us ~
Perceived or believed us poor,
But they couldn't measure the treasure
We found on that golden shore!
Our days were drenched in sunlight then,
More precious to me than gold,
With a driftwood find we felt refined
And our joy was manifold.
We'd tote our seaside wonders home
And place them all around ~
The smallest space can hold such grace
Where gratitude is found...
And a little bit of seaweed
Or a sea shell's winding swirl
Could touch our soul and keep us whole,
Me and my little girl.
And now, when the years before me
Are less than they ever were,
I still feel blessed above the rest
For the beach world...and for her.

Avian Awe?

Just wondering if birds stand in awe, like we do, at dawn.
This one happened to appear as engrossed in the majesty
as I was.

A Vintage Lady, Vintage Cars, Antiques, and Spring

The perfection of a Vintage Lady.
She smiled just for me at an historical event today,
and reminded me of my Grandmothers back in the fifties.

Vintage Cars
were also on display.

I remember using these.  Not so long ago.

I was going to put "Vintage Switchboard", but then I saw the date on it ~ 1950
I was two years old in 1950.  It's not vintage, after all!!
Nope.

And Spring Was Lurking

Everywhere!

Making Dish Gardens

No play today.  Back in the greenhouse making dish gardens.
Still it was a lovely day, weather-wise;
mid-winter and mid-summer
are not always quite so pleasant.
But today was perfect, and the plants, of course,
never complain or get in a bad mood or boss me around!
I am grateful to just walk out my back door and be at work.
Counting my blessings.

Spring Cohorts

I've had a couple of cohorts in my search for Spring!

The Wings of the Morning

"If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there Your hand shall lead me
and Your right hand shall hold me."
Psalm 139:9-10

 How awesome is our God.
